Get two! I purchased several to try in my patio. The light is not as bright as my spouse or I would find ideal, however they get the job done. But overall, believe this porch lighting is an ideal renter's option in adding some security lights outside. It can be effortlessly dismounted for battery modifications and used as a flashlight as needed. They're fantastic. I'd read all of the critiques of other movement sensor LED battery powered lights and was reluctant to purchase one of these products. I still need to purchase a second one to illuminate my closet. I needed an easy to illuminate a turntable which is mounted inside a closet. While waiting I noticed a white one and it appears even better than the grey ones. This is actually the perfect solution. We bought it because our fridge light has died on us (and no, changing the bulb did not help). First two were from "As Seen On TV" section at Walgreens. Overall, they light the little area well enough. The solar lamp post is fragile and will die if you drop them even once. This merchandise is excellent.
The lack of the light sensor caused me to remove one of the 5 'stars' in the rating. My home is an extremely windy area and even on the least sensitive setting with the movement detector pointed towards the ground this light will activate. A couple of these lights are in a not coated area over doors.
AA batteries are much more affordable and have a lot higher power capacity than AAA types. These lights worked so great I purchased more of them!
Except this also works throughout the day wasting battery.
I sealed up the battery compartment as suggested by a previous purchaser to ensure all stayed dry. This solar lamp post really works great and with automated movement detection the battery lasts long time. The movement detector on one failed out of the box, but due to low cost of item it isn't really worth returning. We have a 4'x6' dark region in our basement.
Some of the other options used AA batteries.
