We changed batteries in the unit again and it still would not work. I am very unhappy, I had high hopes this would help her tolerate the heat better. It has its advantages, like giving cool air, quiet, and cool design, but the price puts me down. I am still amazed how well it works. Only annoying thing is that since I bought it the price has been reduced $10, Very satisfied with this purchase. It works really well in the dry summer heat.
You have to use another instrument to take it off and sometimes when you put it back on you have to do it a few times because the sides don't line up correctly. Fortunately, it has vents so you typically don't have to...you just squeeze the water through the vents when it refills and the instructions say to refill it about every hour.
It does not produce half the amount of air it was said it will. I was fooled by the seller's description. This is not much of an air conditioner, but it's a great product when the temperature gets into the 90s. I was recommended by a friend when her husband got one for work (he's a construction worker) and had good things to say about.
When I ordered it, I thought it would cool better than it does. I wouldn't waste my money on this one.

If you wear suits to work, or have hot flashes, or anything else that calls for quick cooling, this is the item for you. The sponge dries out very quickly and even when wet does not do much cooling. I was very disappointed with the evaporation cooler aspect of this fan, don't count on it.
I loved it so much I bought another one for my kids, and I got the home adapter with it. The air conditioner works better with the adapter - it provides a lot more airflow and cools better. It needs the hot dry weather to cool the air down. If not, it's just a fan. I'm getting sick and tired of summer and I bought several cooling gadgets and fans. This cooler hasn't met my expectations. Overall, I'd recommend the fan and also have been pleased with my purchase. casement window air conditioner. Set to level 6, it cools the area to a comfy 73 degrees, degree seven cools to about 69 degrees.
