That helped me to make the decision on this netbook. I did a month of research before making my decision. Instead of returning my computer, I just bought a skin, which probably amounted to the same price had I bought the brown netbook but at least I got to choose a really cool design. My Toshiba netbook arrived from Amazon today!
This is my first netbook. I researched a while before I made the decision to make my purchase and I'm happy to be able to say that I made a good decision with this one. The speaker is small, but sounds great to me. The battery has been holding up superbly. Highly recommend for someone who wants an easy travel netbook that's light, portable, and pretty fast. I wouldn't buy if you intend to do a lot of work other than web surfing.
I never even have to bring the charger for this netbook with me! It weighs a bit less than three pounds and I hardly notice that I'm carrying it with me. It was a fraction of the price of the iPad and a fraction of the weight of my standard laptop. Its Wi-Fi detection found open networks all over Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nagasaki. Again, no noticeable improvements but at least I can change my background. They keyboard is nicely laid out. In some places where Wi-Fi was not present, I simply connected my Netbook to the Ethernet cable of a local computer (with the permission of the Internet cafe proprietor, of course). I do like the Toshiba NB505Toshiba NB505-N508OR 10.1-Inch Netbook (Orange) very much, quite similar to the HP Mini 110 I previously owned and used.
It saved me from having to watch Vanessa Hudgens in Beastly. Just an aside, I have a bone to pick with Amazon constantly changing prices. Small, lightweight, flexible and cheap were the watchwords. After reading a bunch of reviews, I settled on this Toshiba (including a 2 GB chip upgrade).
I wanted the Asus Netbook but chose the Toshiba as it had almost the same set up and was about $50.00 less. So far it has worked very well with no issues, boots up fast and is ready for surfing or whatever. I wanted to upgrade the memory from 1GB to 2GB and went onto the Toshiba web site to make sure I got the right memory module. However, the module that came didn't fit into the slot. I saw this little netbook decided to order it and check it out. I don't plan to install some complicated games or watch full length movies (I have a TV at home and I find watching video on small screens painful) so I cannot comment on the performance of the video card.
