Under this condition, the cooling worked well. When you're using this outside walking in the hot sun, it's easy for the wind to blow the fan's output away. It's lightweight and the battery life is good although due to the way the air nozzle is designed, can sometimes be hard to adjust correctly so that it's facing you. Bought this mainly for camping, but I also use it indoors now and the USB jack is a great bonus to save on batteries.
One of these days I will get the credits for the returns. She said if it stops this time she will give up.
It comes with a tiny bottle to keep water. Use this on the go to refresh the sponge. This summer has been terrible and many days with the temperature at 100+. This has been a real life saver and works better than imagined when it's dry, although the effectiveness really drops down if its humid, I reckon when the humidity past 80 it'd be pretty much useless.
Stumbled across this on Amazon and decided to give it a try. It is terrific!
Otherwise there is no real breeze. At the highest setting it is also very loud with a high pitch whine.
However, I discovered a trick to force it to use moisture from the entire sponge, * Wet the entire sponge according to the instruction manual. Put it in the unit, close the cover, and turn the unit on.
I remedied this by putting it in a plastic bag while I had it in my backpack. I used this cooler instead of my Brookstone mini-fan during this trip, but I still love the Brookstone fan because it puts out a little more air and it can be easily propped up on a book in bed (for those hot countries that have no electricity). It runs off water cooling, and works better than I thought. It's small and quiet enough to sit right next to my keyboard for when I'm working or on the coffee table for when I'm watching TV.
I just hope it has a nice long life so it'll last me the summer! I suffer from Hot Flashes induced by Cancer medications and HRT withdrawals; I found this product to be exactly what I need. If you decide to use batteries you will find that the fan will only work at maximum capacity for about 15 minutes before your batteries start to drain and there is no longer that strong power that was originally there. Batteries are expensive when you're burning up 4 every 30 minutes to simply keep your fan going at an acceptable rate. The build quality is just totally different and the sponge filter actually FITS into the unit! It's got stronger airflow and slightly quieter. Somehow if my face is cool, my body is cool. The handy cooler is very simple to put together and easy to function.
