Met Expectations - Mini Split Ac Review

By Justin Lee

Both units work great and make a big difference. Other fan/sprays are cheaper, but we tried them in the past and they do not work well.

More expensive but well worth the money because quality of the item is way superior to other fans I've used. I'm very pleased with this fan; it is the only one that actually solved my problem and functions as advertised. You open the sponge compartment and find that the bottom part of the sponge is still quite wet. The quick solution to this is to just add a little water at the top of the sponge and be done with it. It's simple and straight forward to use. I got this as a father's day gift and I was a delight to receive it. We bought x2 baby kits (mesh bag holder, flexible tube, & HCs). We used two handy coolers and baby kits the first day at DW but the batteries lasted for 5 hours on the first day and we only had x8(ENELOOPs). I needed a fan for my college dorm. I saw this in the tech review mag last year and thought I'd give it a shot and bought it. Oh well, live and learn. This is a great little device.

After using it on and off for about two weeks it started rattling which is very annoying. When used outside it just doesn't produce enough air to make much difference. Set it upright on your desk. The fan may run a little slower, since it's now being forced to draw air through the entire sponge, but the net effect of this is two-fold: * When the sponge dries out, it's actually closer to 100% dry. This is a special one that is nice and small and runs off the USB, more like a computer fan rather than those conventional household fans. It's made for outdoor use as you can see it has a handle but I have yet to try it on batteries. I loved it so much I bought another one for my kids, and I got the home adapter with it. The air conditioner works better with the adapter - it provides a lot more airflow and cools better. I ordered this because there is only so much night-sweat and dude-funk one can take in this sort of environment. It just came in the other day, but it appears sufficient to cool a cramped, curtained, coffin-like enclosure! It's a pain in the butt to work. Wish I could return and get my money back.

There is a small water bottle that comes with it but this overfills the sponge so I guess I'll have to find a syringe with mm on it which seems odd. This is what cools the breeze, much like a combo of a mister and a fan.

Honestly, this is a great device only for dry places. There are all kinds of helpful charts on the internet showing the relative efficiency of evaporative coolers depending on humidity levels.
