Not too bad for a hand held little unit! I bought this for my trip to Miami and I love it. You have to keep it pretty close to you for you to feel the effects. It's surprising effective staying cool and especially good if you do not have a/c in your garage. The fan noise level is acceptable. It is far from silent, but is quiet enough that it doesn't interfere.
This fan is available in pink also. Blue seems to have more reviews. I bought this to stay cool in church, so it is useless for that because of the noise. The sponge idea is neat but there are musty odors often and the sponge must be cleaned a lot. I tested indoors and it worked okay (not great). Outdoors, it does not do squat!
Then, you must be certain to dry the sponge completely prior to storage to prevent mildew/mold. If those issues don't bother you, this fan is PERFECT! The standard is less than 2. This product is a nice surprise. I've never seen anything like it before BUT nor is it really a new invention.
The reason I'm giving it a 2 instead of a 1 is because I tested it in the worst environment and I can understand that it should work better in other environments in theory, It should be rated 1 just because it died so quickly, but other buyers don't seem to fare as bad as me, so +1 for the unknown.
Ordered two of these since my family was traveling where temperatures were going to average 95 degrees. One of the units did not work upon receipt, but the seller quickly sent a replacement ASAP within 24 hours, just in time for the trip!
However, this is the first I've seen at its size. A couple of important issues for anyone wanting an evaporative cooler: you MUST live in a place with a humidity level lower than 60% (it works better in lower humidity levels and at 20% humidity it is awesome). It needs the hot dry weather to cool the air down. If not, it's just a fan.

There are no blades with the handy cooler so I don't have to worry about the blades. If this product was a little bit smaller, then it would be perfect!

window air conditioner installation within the window and such an energy house, does the entire family room (10 x 12) gets the dining area (10 x 10) as well as rounds the corner into the kitchen area. Perhaps putting some opaque curtains up would help keep the temperature down after window air conditioner installation.
